Lampe à huile à anse zoomorphe

Toulouse (31) - Musée Saint-Raymond

© Photo musée Saint-Raymond, CC BY-SA

Molded clay, orange paste, type 2 A 1, with oxidizing post-firing, traces of soot on the spout.
Lamp whose medallion is decorated with scrolls in relief arranged around the central perforation. The zoomorphic handle shows a protome of a horse, represented with its harness. The discovery of this lamp in a dumping pit from the 400s, in contact with the podium of the temple, allows us to determine the chronology of these Toulouse productions, one of which was discovered at Isle-Jourdain.
