This barrel found during excavations in a ditch and wedged by pebbles in front of a wall is representative of the Bordeaux barrel used in the Middle Ages for the packaging and transport of wine in particular. This barrel, composed of 22 staves, was probably one meter high with a diameter of about the same size. The strapping was composed of several circles of branches reinforced with rush.
